Regular Guided Tours

The snowy fortress wakes up at the guided walking tour. The secrets of the fortification walls will be revealed and old memories from the times of Swedish rule in the 18th century and Russian rule in the 19th century tell us about the life at the fortress in peace and at war. Why was this enormous fortress built in the archipelago, who was the unlucky Carl Olof Cronstedt and why is there a lighthouse in the church tower? Come and find out and spend a winter day at Suomenlinna!

Regular Guided Tours: Wintertime 3.9.2011-30.5.2012 on Weekends in English and in Russian.

Guided walking tours in English start from the Visitor Centre every Saturday and Sunday at 1.30 pm,  3.9- 18.12.11 and 3.1- 30.5.12 (except 1.5.2012).

Regular tours in Russian every Saturday and Sunday at 11:15 am, during 3.3-30.5.11.

Price 8,00 Euro/adults and 3,00 Euro/children. Free with Helsinki-card.

Daily Guided Tours: Summertime 1.6-31.8.2012

In the summertime we organize daily guided walking tours in the Suomenlinna fortress in Finnish, Swedish and English. The tours start from the Visitor Centre and cost 8,00 Euro/adults and 4,00 Euro/children, free with Helsinki-card. The price includes also entrance to the Ehrensvärd Museum (during the museum opening hours).

In English at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

In Russian at 11:30 p.m.

The best way of getting to know Suomenlinna is by joining a guided tour. The construction works of Suomenlinna fortress begun in 1748 during the Swedish Era. The fortress, which was built on six islands, was considered to be invincible, but with the mysterious surrendering against the Russians in 1808, the former Swedish fortress became Russian together with the rest of Finland. The fortress has gone through many periods during its over 250 years long history.
